This is an email we received from our friend Travis that contains a letter that his daughter had written and wanted him to read.

Cheyenne, I just want you to know that Christian Chicken is so proud of you and the work you are doing with your friends. God loves you and so do we !

My Church
I love my church! When I tell people where I attend, I get “Oh, you go to THAT church.” Yes, I do attend THAT church and so thankful for it. Recently, things have happened that has given everyone on the gossip train something to talk about. Well, Oak Leafers, here is something we can talk about. Cheyenne, my ten year old daughter, loves to write. Most of the time, it’s something only her parents would appreciate. Thursday, March 31st, she wrote something that we all can appreciate. God has done some amazing things in our church, and greater things are coming. If people don’t understand why I love my church, maybe this post from Cheyenne will help explain it. Thanks to everyone on staff and to everyone who serves in Kids Ministry. By the way, we did not edit or change any grammatical errors in her post. After all, it was written by a 10 yr. old.

GO GOD

Hi,my name is Cheyenne Spinks. I am 10 years old. I have very, very, very dark brown hair and dark brown eyes .My favorite color is green. My favorite food is…..well I really don’t have a favorite food or drink! I have great friends and a great family! I know I do not have a favorite animal. Besides all that stuff I just talked about is about me I want to talk about god! When I was a little girl me and my family didn’t go to church much like god wanted us to. So one day my moms friend called us and said ”hey me and Brad found a new church that we are going to and we would love for you and Travis and the girls come some time!Moma said girl I don’t have any good clothes to wear and Amanda said sure you do,you don’t have to wear good clothes you can just wear your everyday clothes! Moma couldn’t believe it we have never went to a church that lets you wear your everyday clothes. It was amazing! Amanda told us were to go and when we got there oh my gosh……it was like no other church! It didn’t even have a cross anywhere around and it didn’t look all fancy. I asked my mom ”why does this church not have a cross and why does this church not look fancy like the other churchs? She said a church does not have to look great it only matters if you learn about god! I said ”oh.’ ‘When church was over I said this is the best church ever! When we got in the car we all had smiles on our faces! Now we go every Sunday! It is officially the best church ever! If it wasn’t for Amanda and Brad we wouldn’t go to church like god wanted us to. Now god is everything in my life! I got saved and moved on with life! GOD IS A MIRACLE!!!

GOD IS EVERYTHING!!!!!!
LOVE, CHEYENNE

How do you pray?

Written By: wmarkgarland - Feb• 21•11

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Matthew 5:6-8

I have realized that prayer is not only an important part of my spiritual life; it is vital for my everyday sanity. I thought growing up that your prayers were only said at night and you basically just asked God to bless everyone you could think of. As I have matured, I find myself praying almost all the time now. I spend the drive time on my way to work just thanking God for His son, and for giving me another day on this Earth. I have several friends that I pray for by name and any specific situations that I know they are in. During my workday, I will pray while working and ask God to make the day a profitable one for my boss, and for specific people that have asked that I pray for them. The drive home is when I am very selfish in my prayers since this is when I just unload all my worries and problems. I know that God already knows what I am going to say, but it helps relieve stress since I am verbalizing and getting stuff off my chest.

So my question to you is, how do you pray? If there are any specific prayers you would like for us to pray, please email us @ Pray@ChristianChicken.com

One Team.

I feel like most churches today are competing with each other. Why can’t we just realize that we are on the same team? Revival is coming to Bartow County and the surrounding region, and “little c” churches are going to have to team up for the overall good of the “big C” Church.

Every church should exist to lead people who do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ to a point where they do. These people will then begin to minister to others, and the cycle continues. It doesn’t matter whose pastor is wearing the trendiest clothes, who recorded the latest CD, or who has the greatest attendance. All churches need to have the same mission, and receive the blessing that is being able to partner with other like-minded churches.

Thursday, May 5 is the National Day of Prayer, and all the churches in Bartow County have been invited to participate. It is being held at the football stadium at Cartersville High School. A move of God is on the horizon, and it’s about to be on. So no more gossiping about what the church down the street just did. We are one team. Let’s not get lost in the details, but lost in the glory of God.

Church in a Chick-fil-A ?

Written By: wmarkgarland - Feb• 07•11

This is the question that kind of started it all for me. Adam and I were sitting around and talking or should I say dreaming about church planting in Seattle one day when it all became clear. What if we could talk Chick-fil-A into letting us become the first ever CFA in Seattle,Washington? What if we could have people meeting in Seattle just like they do in the south, discussing God and the Bible over a chicken biscuit. What if every Chick-fil-A that is open would not only let people talk God during the week, but let people hold core team meetings or services inside the restaurant on Sunday. The business is closed on Sunday so that employees can spend time at church and with their family so business wouldn’t be harmed. Not only would this further the Kingdom, but would also be a great way to give back to the community. Being a part of a church plant for the past four or so years, I know how difficult things can be financially trying to have meeting space. Allowing a church to use the restaurant would be a blessing on the church, but you would have to set a timeline to allow others to take advantage of the free rental space. My estimate would be 12 month terms, if you are meeting for a year rent free you should be able to save some money. I am sure this could also be a tax deduction for the CFA corporation too, but I can’t say for sure due to the fact I am not proficient in the area of taxes. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this topic, and would appreciate prayers for God’s will for our lives and Seattle, Washington.

Unashamed

Written By: adammcentyre - Feb• 05•11

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” – Romans 1:16

As Christians, we are called to share our faith in Jesus Christ with the world. And we should do this unashamedly. But, if we’re honest with ourselves, it seems that most of the time we keep to ourselves. We don’t always share the Gospel with others. In fact, I personally hardly ever talk about how God is blessing my life unless I’m at church, home, or talking friends who are fellow believers.

So it would appear that I am ashamed of it. But I’m not. I guess you could say I’m a Christian chicken. Scared to talk to people about the one true God who blesses me more than I can put into words each and every day. I am learning to share the love of the God who hand-details every star filled night, who paints each and every sunset, and who created and affirms each one of us as individuals.

How can we not fall down in worship to the Creator? How can we not scream about the love He has for us at the top of our lungs?

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I am working on sharing with more people the love that I have received and felt from Christ Jesus. To try to connect them with something bigger than ourselves.

Let’s all stop being chickens in our faith, and share the Gospel in everyday life.

Love God. Love People.
Adam.

Hello world!

Well here it is, the official ChristianChicken.com. This idea was brought to light by two friends who not only work together, but do life together. Sparked by the idea that we shouldn’t be chickens about our faith in the Lord we decided to start this site just to give our ideas on life. There is no limit to the types of things you may find here. You will read about God, probably work, friendships, life, love, and most definitely Seattle. Yes, you read that correctly, we currently live in Georgia but we both have a heart and passion for Seattle, Washington. God has big things planned for us and we can’t wait to share them with you.
